Do you know when the first jeans for women were designed? The first year we could wear a complete outfit of jeans, for women, was 1934. But the reason they've reached the 21st century, breaking the mold, is thanks to the most desired woman on the silver screen. Who am I talking about?
I'll tell you later... ;--)
She's the one who gave the cowboy that unique, sensual touch that captivated us and that it still retains today. And we bet it will never lose it! Do you agree?
Whether you agree or not, what thousands and millions of women have made clear, decade after decade, is that they are a wardrobe essential. Is it precisely because they never go out of style? Their fabric is durable, versatile, and easy to combine in any season… Or is it because no other garment has brought about a social and feminist revolution comparable to that of this type of pant?
She democratized fashion and shouted loud and clear: Down with discrimination based on age, nationality, and sex! She went from being indispensable in the toughest work sectors to becoming a symbol of rebellion, a banner of support for the working class, and a symbol of women's liberation.
How can you give up having a pair of jeans ready to wear? Whether they're skinny, oversized , flared, straight, long, or ankle-length. Or one of each, please!
The question is, do we know all its possibilities?
If you need new ideas for styling your jeans or you're tired of being told how to wear them, check out this article. Break free from preconceived notions and rewrite your own rules.
But first we have to confess something important to you…
Denim: the most polluting fabric in your wardrobe?
Why wouldn't we want a pair of jeans always available in our wardrobe? Why wouldn't we include them in our collections?
It's very simple. Because denim is one of the most polluting fabrics. Did you know that? The most optimistic estimates say that it takes 3,000 water bottles to make a pair of jeans. Others say 8,000, and many say more than 11,000.
The fact is, before you even put on a pair of jeans, they've already consumed all the water you drink in four years. Water that, because of them, flows dyed from the factories and turns rivers into toxic waste. Not to mention the amount of polluting particles released every time you wash them.
So when we founded Elisa Muresan, we were clear about it: we promised sustainable pants .
We only work with denim fabric if it's to reduce its environmental impact. That's why our denim is made from organic cotton and always GOTS certified . This prestigious eco-label guarantees closed-loop processing, free of toxic chemicals, and with 90% less water consumption. There's still work to be done, but it's a good start, don't you think?
Now, let's get to those denim looks…
Need some fresh ideas for styling jeans? Here's an inspiring story.
Jeans, denim jeans, denim jeans… Whatever you call them, this timeless garment is the oldest staple in your wardrobe. But maybe you're not getting the most out of them. Can we help?
So, let us first give you a few lines to tell you the story behind its thousand names and start imagining new ideas for combining them.
Did you know that the English word Jeans has nothing English about it?
You heard right. Jeans actually comes from Genoa, Italy, where the first version of this fabric was invented in the 17th century. And the name of the fabric itself, denim , comes from Nîmes, the city where it originated and where it was used to clothe the French army. From there, it went to Levi Strauss, a German immigrant who brought it to the US in the 19th century for miners, cowboys, and other workers . Eventually, it reached stardom with Jeans Dean and...
And Marilyn Monroe , that famous blonde we challenged you to guess at the beginning of this article. And she'll never go out of style.
Are you already thinking of new ways to combine it in honor of its past?
So all you have to do is keep reading to solidify those ideas and get inspired by these tips and amazing looks. Break the rules with jeans and discover eco-friendly fashion options.
Tips for styling your jeans
To get the most out of these tips, I suggest the following:
Take a mental inventory of your wardrobe. Visualize the t-shirts, shirts and blouses, jackets, sweaters and coats, sneakers, shoes, boots, ballet flats and sandals… that you already own. Oh, and don't forget handbags, belts and other accessories!
Do you already have them all in your head?
So we're ready to make our denim looks the stars of the show. Especially if they're eco-friendly and ethically sourced jeans . And they deserve it. They do so much for us. Let's get started…

1. When it comes to jeans, there are no rules. Rewrite your own!
Come on, if you're having one of those days when you're unsure what to wear, let your jeans come to the rescue.
They can get you out of any "What should I wear?" or "What should I pair it with?" dilemma. They simply go with everything, rain or shine, season after season. From classic jeans with a white t-shirt and blazer, to oversized , fitted, long, or short pieces. In short, they go with almost any garment you can imagine.
But let's look at an example to help you break away from the ordinary and create your own combinations. Let's talk about shoes with jeans.
You know jeans look great with sporty, retro, or casual sneakers, but what about with heels? Or espadrilles, combat boots, or sandals? Try it! Go from one extreme to the other and see the results.
2. Over with Over. Combine your oversized jeans with an oversized top.
Have you ever heard the saying "With wide-legged pants you have to wear a fitted t-shirt" or vice versa? I'm sure you have.
The loose-fitting or fitted-loose contrast is a valid option, but it doesn't have to be that way. Have you tried the over-over look? We love combining wide-leg trousers with equally loose tops. And our customers, once they try it, never want to take it off.
It's beneficial and very liberating.
So if you have a pair of oversized jeans, try them with flared, boxy, oversized , or layered tops. Loose-fitting tops work too. Try wearing wide-leg jeans with wide-leg jeans, make them your own, and fall in love!

Got it? Then try this: roll up the hem of your oversized jeans with a double or long turn to give them a fresh look. Like the effect? Paired with espadrilles, flat sandals, or boots, they create a different and edgy vibe.
3. Sailor cowboy. Long live stripes!
Don't tell me you don't love jeans and a striped t-shirt. Why do they look so good together? It's that indefinable feeling that our instincts kick in when we love something. And when our gut or heart speaks, it's absolutely right: they look amazing.

4. Contrast, festival of colors, or monochromatic fabric?
The characteristic deep blue of classic denim has so many advantages. Among them, if you're ever in a mood for fashion overthinking, you can create a head-to-toe denim outfit that always works. Pair your jeans with a denim shirt or jacket in the same shade. Or create variations of the same color, some more intense than others. This way you ensure a balanced look that always looks great.
And if you prefer to combine them with vibrant colors, you won't get a headache either, I assure you. Jeans lend themselves to any color scheme. Just keep your emotions in check and go for it.

5. Who said you can't dress elegantly in jeans?
Elegant, festive, or more cozy. Playing with accessories or without them.
Sometimes, a shirt, a blazer, or a good pair of heels are all it takes to be the most stylish one at the party in jeans. Or you can use a handbag, belt, jewelry, or accessories to add a special sparkle and your own unique personality to your look. You know this better than anyone. The important thing? Whatever you wear, never feel like you're in costume.

6. If you want to travel without a suitcase, choose…
Has this ever happened to you? You have a two-day trip and you don't want to bring a suitcase. If you're like us, here's one more tip to finish up.
The travel essential you're looking for is a pair of jeans. They're the least likely to get dirty (and hide stains best), they don't wrinkle, and you can easily combine them with anything, no matter the unexpected event or occasion, day or night.
Are you looking for an online store for eco-friendly jeans?
Ours, we're told, have an extraordinary ability: they bring out the best in you. But there's only one way to find out—try them on! And whatever happens, don't even think about throwing away the jeans you already own!
First, try out all the combinations you've written down with them. And before you buy the t-shirt, sweater, or jacket you need to complete the perfect outfit… Before that, stop and think:
- Do I really need to buy new clothes? You probably already have something in your closet that, while not exactly the same, could still work. It's the most sustainable option.
- Where should I buy my new jeans or that matching top? If you need new jeans or another piece to pair with them, always shop at truly sustainable stores or brands.
Here at Elisa Muresan, you'll find plenty of options. All of them are certified ethical and organic.
